Buswell Memorial Library is shared center of intellectual inquiry and discovery for Wheaton College (IL)
. Recognizing that all truth and knowledge comes from God, the library seeks to be a place of intellection and creativity and a treasure trove of scholarly resources, both old and new, in print and online. Along with documenting the history of Wheaton College, the Archives and Special Collections of Wheaton College seeks to collect, preserve, and present materials in all formats related to the life-work of significant adherents to the Christian faith in the modern world. The Special Collections contain the personal papers of writers Madeleine L'Engle, Frederick Buechner, Malcolm Muggeridge, and many others, the institutional papers of national evangelical societies, materials from the College's history, rare book collections, and the E. Beatrice Batson Shakespeare Collection, which focuses upon the intersection of Shakespeare and the Christian tradition. The library also houses the Congressional papers of alumni J. Dennis Hastert, a former Speaker of the U.S. House of Repr esentatives, and Daniel R. Coats, former senator from Indiana and former ambassador to Germany. In addition to supporting focused research, professors regularly draw upon these special collections for undergraduate course enrichment.
